I know i hate to copy post BUT I want you all (all my blogs) to read it and know that life is something we should ALWAYS value, even when hard times hit, when we lose a love one, when you have no job, facing eviction- STILL keep your head high and know that, miracles can happen at ANY time in your life....I call this: "The last minute miracle".... read and understand life is like playing baseball (to a woman that is NOT in love with baseball)....long, boring, low scores BUT just when you think your not interested......someone hits a home run! Then your awake and ready to watch for more action....a true fan (like a lover of life) will always be expecting something good to happen, even when your team is down and looking bad....never, ever give up hope, keep faith the size of a mustard seed!! check out this article!!

Homeless man with inheritance suffered tragedy

SALT LAKE CITY – A homeless man whose rags-to-riches story made international headlines suffered a devastating family tragedy decades ago that may have led to his life on the streets of Salt Lake City.
A friend tells the Deseret News that Max Melitzer's wife and two friends were killed in a 1990 car crash. Melitzer was driving and, according to Karol Behling, hasn't been the same since.
Behling says Melitzer was deeply affected by the death of his wife, Janice, and his life as a transient seemed to begin after the accident. Last week, a private investigator tracked down Melitzer to deliver the life-altering news of a sizable inheritance left by a brother who died last year of cancer.
Melitzer has since left Utah to reunite with family in New York, whom he hadn't been in contact with in months.
Behling's deceased husband, Steve, knew Melitzer for more than 20 years.
"He was very much in love with his wife, I believe. And it was really hard for him — one, to have her gone and, two, to have been driving," Behling recalled Tuesday. "I'm sure that affected him a lot, and I'm sure he missed his wife a lot."
In July 1990, Melitzer was driving through Wyoming when he lost control of his car, killing his wife and two passengers, the Deseret News reports.
Behling said she recalls Melitzer lost his apartment after the crash and bounced from place to place between Ogden and Salt Lake City.
Behling last saw Melitzer in December, when he visited her husband in the hospital. She said she was surprised to hear Melitzer's family was looking for him, because he never spoke of having any family.
"I hope this works out. And I hope his family is truly interested in him because he's a good guy," Behling said.
Melitzer's family recently hired a New York law firm in an effort to locate him, and the law firm contracted with investigator David Lundberg.
Neither Lundberg nor the lawyers have disclosed the amount Melitzer will receive.
"He'd have money where he could take care of himself or hire someone to take care of him," Lundberg said. "Apparently, he does have some emotional issues. The family just wants to make sure he's set up and he's taken care of."
Others who know Melitzer say he was an example to those around him.
"He takes donations of bread and other things like that, and he tries to donate them to my ministry," said Jason Florez, who runs the homeless ministry at Mountain View Christian Assembly of God church in Sandy. "He just happens to be one of the purest hearts of all the homeless people we bring in and come and see."
Florez gave one of the critical tips Lundberg that led to finding Melitzer at Pioneer Park in downtown Salt Lake City last Saturday. He said he saw a television news report highlighting the search for Melitzer.
"I was sitting next to my wife, and I couldn't even talk. I said, `That's Max,'" Florez recalled.

what does clothes have to do with this-dressing for success!

Hi blog family!!

FOR THOSE IN CARE
I am fuming a little today. why? well look at this! Foster children would be allowed to get clothing only from second hand stores | Michigan Messenger

look at my face!!! but my lips are not shut!!!
This senator done lost his mind!!
he wants our "divine children" (that is you), shopping at second hand stores only??
OK I LOVE thrift,
so i am not arguing that you can find some fabulous items--especially designer--at a lower price...(depending on where you live..NY, LA, PARIS, MN....)

BUT who is he to "save money" when it comes to raising our future kings and queens---YOU!! ?? this is a case of turning your anger into something positive... i am mad BUT i am going to give you a tip my foster mother gave me, even though i do workshops on this...because of this guy..you get this information now...so listen up...
To all of my young people who may still be in a group home or foster home, remember:
how you dress- DOES MAKE  A DIFFERENCE!!!

GUYS:
Learn to pull up your pants and throw on a button up shirt when your going for a job or college interview!! you could do "metro"..meaning shirt, dress pant, and nice leather shoe/boot..
Ladies:
lower that skirt a little and button up your blouse so "nothing" skin wise is showing!!
 Guys:
put on a "shoe or shoe boot (docksiders), even Clark's could work or wallaby's if they are leather but DO NOT wear sneakers or timberlands..(unless it was a construction job or carpenter helper!!!
Ladies:
...no stelleto's (high heal) only a small heal and let the color be black or navy blue..you can also get away with a pair of slacks, a blouse and a blazer or just the blouse ..if it's nice and elegant enough..we are NOT acting flirtatious, we are acting like we are an asset (a plus) to the company....
not like we will make the company look bad...your reputation is everything on the streets--
well it is everything when your a foster kid, like I was, trying to make it in a world where alot, (not all) of people had parents teach them how to dress, talk, act and had contacts ...
we don't usually have that luxery so we have to step up our game on how we act when we are out in the community---
when you age out or have to move, if you left a good reputation--you can come back to your town, (like i did years later)...and get a job or apartment..
BECAUSE when you left, you left with a good reputation and everyone not only knew you, but thought you were respectful, honest and a good person!!

HOW PEOPLE SEE YOU, very important!! IF you have a bad reputation now...change it!!
it will not help you get into college, find the right mate, or get a job!!

(If your under 17...they may let you slide), but i am telling you how to get the job over anyone else---DRESS for success!! (this also works for finding your mate, friends, jobs, college, whatever!!)
If you cannot afford nice  clothes--it does NOT matter--how you put it together and the fact that you are "CLEAN with a good attitude--that's what counts!

If your group home ever needs me to come and speak to you about dressing and acting for success, I would love to come hit me....with a message!! this is what I do!!! I help you because someone, (many people) helped me!! So i "pay it forward"...(ps. that is a good movie you should ask your counselor to get that)...

for those that left foster care

this all apply's to you accept now you are out of care.
If you are on a job, you want to stay there so stay sharp not only in dress but all the latest computers, faxes, machines, get to know it all!!
The more you know..skills u have... in a company, the less likely you will be "laid off"..
example: if your the only one that knows how to do payroll or other major functions...it makes it harder to let you go if they NEED you, they can only need you if you know ALL the functions that are important to that company!

Smiling and making a difference by contributing to a project...not complaining..

if you are at home with no job,
its time to get up...atleast 4 days a week, go to the library, sign up for the computer, and redo your resume and your look..

you dont have to buy new clothes, just look in the magazines to see how you can hook up the outfit..belf, jewelry, scarf, jacket...

whatever you do--stay away from depression...its a mind killer....always tell yourself that you are it" you are worthy and you are special--because you are!! read Anthony Robbins or youtube him!! you will learn something!!
Watch the DVD the secret..Rhona byrn..
Stay positive and stay in the "know" dont just sit and wait for a job...go get it!! it may take time but with perserverance, hard work and good attitude and networking, you can find one!!

good luck...and dressing for success, does matter!

alot to be thankful for...even in recovery

Hi blog family!

Recovery from anything is a long, slow process and we should never rush" to get better, from surgery,
addiction,
injury's,
ending relationships (with friends, workers or mates)
or trauma, (to the mind or body)
- take your time healing,
 life-
 if you wake up-
will be here!

There are many things to be learned after a troubled or difficult child hood, (abandonment, abuse, neglect)- its all trauma but you made it to adulthood- cheers to you!
TAKE YOUR TIME HEALING - if you go through your pain, realize your strength and weaknesses from it, and then process in a way that is managable for you- you are on your way to a full recovery from anything!
Please pray for our family's in Japan, there are many new "foster kids" due to this situation, if you do nothing today, be greatful for what you DO have, what you CAN do and that you ARE on the road, to RECOVERY- you don't have to rush, be willing, loving and take your time!!
smile someone is watching you! (your smile could make someone's day, your positive energy could give someone depressed..hope...try to smile everyday you wake for this reason!!!
xo Tanya
ps. my book: Suviving foster care and making it work for you is available at lulu.com please buy for yourself or a teen you know who is having a hard time, I assure you, it will change or save a life!!

recovering relationships

Hi blog family- I'm back!
Relationships after foster care.

It is hard to have any-when you have no good example to choose from.
So if you are not sure how to pick a good mate or friend-stop picking the bad ones- the one who has all the drama, gossip, negative words!
If nothing else, you know that ANY relationship should consist of two people that respect, admire and love each other for whom they are-never trying to change them or mold them, accepting them with flaws (as long as it is not drama or you doing all the work).. both parties should get something out of each other that makes them do better, love harder and want to be greater!
Don't settle for crazy, lazy, drama friends and mates-
life is short-only surround yourself with people that love you and have your best interest at heart IF there is any hint of jealousy, envy, hatred, mean spiritness- ABANDON SHIP!! God put plenty of people on the earth for you- its up to you to find them!
You are loved, and the universe needs you to get yourself together so that you may help the other 500,000 kids in foster care!!

I wish i could syndrome

hi blog family!!

its a new day!! what are you up to??
are you:
sitting around waiting for your dreams to happen? This can only happen if you know what it is and how to plan for it...then how to execute!

sitting around wishing you could look 50 lbs lighter...but not excersizing or changing your eating habits?

wishing you had a mate..but sitting on the couch, never going anywhere to be seen or meet new people?
wishing you were successful...but not doing anything that will manifest this success?

thinking of leaving that abusive partner, but never leave, even with support..because you don't think your worth it or no one will want you? this is a hard one because you do what you have to do to survive when you are in an abusive relationship-especially when there are kids BUT i say to you..if you can get to "my sisters place or any domestic violence shelter- go and start over..your life and your kids are worth it!! You may be able to turn this experience around by writing a journal/book and helping other woman..keep faith, and take action as soon as your spirit tells u to leave!

I had the "I wish I could" syndrome for years. It is going to keep you in the same place! You must realize your greatness and get up, get out and do something, as Macy gray use to sing! Nothing in this life is coming easy...even illnesses take some work like eating bad food, not seeing a doctor...etc... Nothing in this life good or bad, comes to you, you must go get the good you want in life!!!
If you want to change your negative kids thinking--think positive-live positive- talk positive--they will follow the leader- YOU!!
If you want a mate. get out to the museums, borders, gallery's... he/she cannot find you if you home!

if you want success. start planning what does that mean, what does it take for your goal, what do you need, who do you need for a mentor? how long..does not matter if you do not give up...

Stay focused and try new things this year, the universe is waiting for your success!! There is plenty for all of us, find out what gifts you have that will make you stand out...xo Tanya

thinking of adopting

Hi blog family:
Be patient I may address child, foster parent or adoptive on the same page...working on fosterparentsonly.blogspot.com for any issues with adoptive or foster kids.
for those that was in care and may have been adopted please take the time to write back and let us know your experience.
For those who were only in group homes and now adults:
It is fustrating to see others get adopted and your left in the group home or they went to a foster home and you got left. It can be better to be in a home BUT if you are not with a good family--your better off in a group home setting. The trick of survival: utilizing all your resources! Councelors, programs, therapist...education...I know plenty of adults who came out better than those in foster homes--why? Because they took advantage of what they had and got their education ALONG with discovering what they needed to work on to heal...
You can tell if you are healing by how much anger you harbor. Ask yourself are you often angry or tense, screaming, mad, upset easy, worry all the time? If yes to any of these (and it is "normal" to feel all of these as an adult who was in care)..find a good therapist or start/find a support group in your area for adults just like you. It is important to get if off your chest, so that you can move on the greatness!!! xo

NOTES FOR ADOPTIVE PARENTS:

 http://www.americanadoptions.com/adoption/link_resource

I know most people think that when they adopt a child that life will be bliss. If you get an older child that has been traumatized in any way---including abandonment--they will need to resolve those issues BEFORE adulthood.  My suggestion is to view my site, read my book and check all resources on adoption. Find the best therapist available to children and start processing and allowing the child to understand what has happend to them and how you are going to help change their life. Don't try to "hide" the adoption, lie or coverup because while it may be great that a parent gave them away--it is a hard fact to know that your parents gave you up--even if it was for the better. You must allow them the space and time to know this, work through it and appreciate it--then they can understand your role and love you and "need" you. I enclosed a link you may find helpful for resources.

better day

what you plan today will help
the
next day be better
brighter
what you put off today
will postpone your future greatness
keep it from shinning bright
from you being an asset to this world...

If you are sitting doing nothing, nothing will happen
If you are sitting and doing, something will get done!

What is true happiness? The Dali Lama says...

Hi blog family!

I was enjoying the rain today, as the earth needs to be cleansed every now and again. I am always on a quest for inner peace, love, happiness and how to help others without any purpose, reason or gain. I know just my being happy doing it is a gain, so I wonder can I truley help others without "wanting" anything? While I was reading I came upon this, written by the Dali Lama on his site...these are NOT my words, but as I search and find answers, I will share them with you. We must find our divine purpose and help each other any way we can. So I ask: What is true happiness?

True happiness comes from having a sense of inner peace and contentment,
which in turn must be achieved by cultivating altruism,
 love and compassion,
 and by eliminating anger,
selfishness
 and greed.

feeing down?

Soc Le Cour (this is the top of Paris, once you climb those stairs and look down you feel like you are on top of the world--YOU ARE--everyday if you believe it!!!
hi blog family!!!
I know the holidays are among us and this is a hard time for anyone without family OR anyone who did not get the holiday love and peace they deserved as a child. THis is a time where many take their own lives or may do more drugs or high risk behavior things.
I write to you today to encourage you to stay strong and know that YOU have divine purpose!! Yes, I say it often but i say it in truth. How do I know?
How could you be so divine with so many problems to face in this life?? YOU are human and we are all here on this earth to experience ALL elements of this earth, love, joy, pain, excitement, family, whatever--each of us have our own map to follow.
For you NOT to be depressed, you have to erase the word from your vocabulary...use another like..i am feeling so challenged today.
Don't allow negative words or people in your life...even if it means being alone until you find new friends, mates or family substitutes!! Life is hard but don't take it personal--we all go through something at sometime!!! The universe does not pick on one person, it has lessons, great, ugly and bad for ALL of us!! How you work through them or learn from them is the divine part, this will tell you how much charector you have! You must always believe that feeling down is only temporary--even slaves and those in the holocaust found  a second to laugh or smile at something...don't dwell on what you cannot change and if you can change it--get to work!!! You are needed: someone would not be here without you! Someone would die, cry or kill without you in their lives, you do matter most-don't forget it and spread love to someone today, call a friend that comforts you. When all else fails and you have no one look to the sky and tell the universe "thanks for my life, no matter where i am at" because i have life, i can always get more, do more and be more...xo Tanya

I thank the universe for you, because you are reading my blog which means I am doing something right...smile, we all love you and know you are important to the universe!!

life lessons by Regina Brett

hi blog family, this is not written by me-but I think I should share!

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio .

"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40 If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come...

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Victim 'aged out' of system

POSTED: 01:30 a.m. HST, Oct 25, 2010

Erwin Viado Celes hanged himself last month, just six months after he "aged out" of Hawaii's foster care system, and now his friends are trying to raise enough money to pay for his funeral and burial.
Celes' suicide highlights the sudden gap that island foster children frequently fall into once they become legal adults but have no reliable support or even a bed of their own, said David Louis, executive director of the nonprofit group Heart Gallery Hawaii, which works to find resources for foster children.

Services for Erwin Viado Celes

» Where: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 91-1004 North Road, Ewa Beach
» When: Visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. tomorrow. Mass at 11 a.m. Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park.
» To donate:Donations may be made at any Bank of Hawaii branch or to Heart Gallery Hawaii, 3554 Aliamanu St., Honolulu, HI 96818. Checks should include the phrase "For Erwin Viado Celes" in the memo line.
When he turned 18, Celes received court approval to stay in Hawaii's foster care system for another year -- until his 19th birthday on March 12, Louis said.
After leaving his foster family, Celes bounced between homes in Waianae, Mililani and Waipahu until he was found dead Sept. 7 in Hawaii Kai, said Elena Raymond, Celes' friend and co-worker.
Celes spent 14 years in foster care and "didn't talk about it a lot," Raymond said, "but he would tell us bits and pieces about being in foster homes."
Louis called Celes' suicide "a preventable tragedy."
