Hard economic times have hit some. Did we ever stop to think about the 26,000 or so children who are released from foster care every year? The world would be a better place if we were less selfish. I have faced a few situations in my life that needed someone to intervene. I have been fortunate enough to have total strangers help me. If they helped me to eat for the day or gave me a place to sleep for the night is irrelevant, the fact that they helped is what really mattered. There are many homeless, living in their cars or sleeping on a park bench, what can we do to help? Trust, privacy & safety come to mind when i think of helping a stranger. Maybe we can start by helping someone we know? I know many are hanging on by a thin thread due to this "recession", what is an ex foster kid with no family soppose to do? My advice to you, call on friends but be willing to sacrafice your space, time, privacy and be open to bartering, working extra hours to help them with bills. If you are of able body, never stay with someone for free, try to offer a service until you are on your feet, pay one of the bills, buy grocery's. You don't want to be a burden, you just want help to figure your way out. The local YMCA rents rooms to single men and woman. See if someone is renting a room in there home. Take a job that requires overnight hours, do whatever it takes to survive. DO NOT EVER SELL YOURSELF OR YOUR SOUL and stay away from drugs and drinking, you need a clear head and sober mind. If no one told you today, i love you and have a blessed day, know that you are special, tanya
