Save The Date!! May 30th/Addiction & foster care

Hi blog family!
I know it has been a while! I hope college is going well, we have had: Tashawna, Sasha, Odawa, Dottie, Mercy and a few others graduate since I last wrote to you!
Youth without parents are getting their degrees, when we follow them through! I know these youth would have still excelled without us, but we believe a side cheerleader is needed.

May 30th is our 6th annual Robert Cooper Memorial Scholarship Event we do for Foster Care Awareness Month Event!
If you are a business owner and would like to sponsor our event or donate and have your name in our program, please call 914-646-4638 or email fosterkidsuniteinc@gmail.com

Advice
Addiction and Foster Care
As I work in the field of addiction, I say to you that the amount of youth that will end up in foster care or kindred care will rise again. New Drugs that are harder to kick are keeping woman and men out longer and sometimes, they will not make it back. So many overdoses from phytanyl, its startling.
If we can give any advice, I ask why would you want your kids to be raised by your parents IF they were the reason you were out on drugs?
If they hide or don't tell information when you were a child and you got hurt, they certainly have not changed unless the family went into therapy.
I am so thankful my mom chose to leave us in foster care and not place us with a dysfunctional family. While I was molested by two foster brothers starting at 9 years old in care, I recieved an education and sense of travel, i never would have gotten had I stayed with "family". While they are all doing great now, (the cousins that lived, some of my mothers siblings died from addiction,
I do miss being a part of a family but I have my girls and I am so thankful for them.

2020 is a year of finding self and finding our greatness. You can do it, without family and with a good community and friends! #focus #divine
